Strange and scary news out of Willow Glen this morning … Car fires and vandalism.
Four cars were set on fire (pictures and video from CBS 5), and another two were vandalised early this morning in the southeastern part of Willow Glen. The cars on fire were all parked in driveways on Johnston, Coastland, and Curtner Avenues. The vandalized cars were parked on Coastland.
Fortunately, there were no injuries reported. Anyone with information is asked to call the SJPD Crime Stoppers line at (408) 947-STOP.

KPIX (CBS-5) continues to provide updates, including finally stating the obvious:
The “arson” label means the tip line phone numnber is now 408-27-ARSON.
… and we owe the SJ Mercury News some credit. In contrast to their usual mode of pasting bad WG news all over the paper, this story barely warranted a sideways glance, appearing online and in the “Bay Area News in Brief” section.

Subject: WGNA and SJPD Update - Willow Glen Auto Arson
Our former President and current WGNA Board member Helen Solinski meet with SJ Police Department and they are actively pursuing leads about the auto arson and have a possible description and photos of suspects and their vehicle - which is believed to be a full sized white Ford pickup possibly a king cab.
If you see people acting suspiciously or the possible suspect vehicle that fit the description in your neighborhood immediate call 911 - San Jose Police Department.
San Jose Police Department has increased local patrols in Willow Glen and pulled officers from other parts of San Jose to help patrol and solve the car arson.

The WG Resident brings its “fiercely local” approach to its coverage, and publishes a great update on the situation in this week’s edition: “Police patrols increased in Willow Glen after cars are set on fire“
