Independent Neighborhood News & Talking Points
31 Jul
July’s edition of the Willow Glen Times included the regular monthly column from Ken Yeager, with this tidbit of news:
As your council member for the past six years, I have worked hard to preserve green space, create parkland and develop our trails. I am pleased to report that District 6 will soon be getting more money for parks.
Six of Willow Glen’s parks will benefit from this money. Lincoln Glen is receiving $74,000 for improvements and $114,000 will be dedicated to acquisition and development of the park in the Evans Lane Area.
Fuller Avenue Park will receive $22,000 and Lincoln Glen Park will receive $1,000 for its reserve fund. The parks budget is dedicating $4,000 to new park development near the Scottish Rite project and River Glen Park will receive $9,000.
Although the money is committed, the precise improvements coming to each park are not necessarily determined just yet. But you can fix that … Todd Capurso, the City’s landscape maintenance manager with SJ PRNS, provided a few extra details in an email exchange with WGx. He invites your input on Lincoln Glen Park and others.
Thank you for your interest in Lincoln Glen Park. At this point, we have not identified any specific use of the funding for this site. The funding is tied to this site because it was acquired through the Parkland Dedication Ordinance which states that funding acquired through a residential development project must be allocated to park or recreational improvements which serve the new development. Most of the park elements at Lincoln Glen are in fairly good condition. However, many of the components related to the grounds near the community center buildings are not. We may consider improvements to the parking and landscaped areas around the buildings, but no final determinations have been made yet. We would welcome your input.
Leave your comments below, and we’ll make sure Todd gets to see them!

Lincoln Glen Park could sure use some more shade trees or some kind of shade structures near the playgrounds and picnic areas. Thanks!
I agree, more shade is definatley needed as well as the drainage in the older sand/water play area…
The stream water element at the south end of the park used to be so cool. But, I haven’t seen it turned on for several months. Could some of the funds go to repairing this wonderful and unique park element?
Shade, please! And ditto the water feature near the sandbox.
