Saratoga has been gripped by “Idol Fever” this year. Resident Paul Kim made it to the top 24 before bowing out, and the local Rotary Club of Saratoga has seized the moment for its own “Saratoga Idol” competition.
If it’s happening in Willow Glen, WGx doesn’t know about it. … yet.
But “San Jose Idol” is alive and well … hosted city-wide by the San Jose Library. The Cambrian area competition takes place this Saturday, April 21, at the Cambrian Library.
Will you be the next San Jose Teen Idol? Are you in your school Choir? Are you taking singing lessons? Do you carry a good tune while in the shower? If you are 12-19 years old, then you can compete for a chance to win the San Jose Public Library’s first San Jose Idol competition! …
Each library branch will have its own contest after which all branch winners will compete in the Grand Finale at King Library. The winner will become the San Jose Teen Idol. If you would like to compete, please register by April 18th at the Information Desk. 1st prize winner will win $50, 2nd prize will win $25 and 3rd prize will win $10. The first place winner will be one of the finalists to compete at the main event downtown at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Library! Please come to the library to sign up for a time slot and to pick up a rule sheet. We hope to see AND hear you there!
Of course, the ongoing demolition and remodel of the Willow Glen Library presents an obstacle for any WG hopefuls. The Seven Trees, Evergreen, and Santa Teresa branches are also hosting tryouts on Saturday, among others. Rose Garden hopefuls competed yesterday. Cambrian contestants were supposed to register by today, but it’s not clear if there are deadlines at other branches.
But don’t worry. WGx’s own exhaustive review of the official rules reveals no geographic limitations. Plus, there’s still time to move to another neighborhood.
The Alviso Teen Idol will be declared on April 26!
One Response for "‘Willow Glen Idol’ … Anyone?"
[...] welcome to compete at any local library — albeit not yet one in Willow Glen. Just like last year’s WG-less affair, there appear to be no geographic limitations, so check out the library’s competition [...]
