For the curious, “The Glens” housing project near Bird & Malone is now at the selling stage, with open houses, a revamped website, and some incredibly bright yellow houses. Three of ‘em, and three bright blue houses, too.

P5310002 If you take a “virtual tour” on the official website, you only get to see one external picture, and it’s of the brown house. The website includes standard realtor hyperbole, too:

Located in historic Willow Glen, one of San Jose’s premier neighborhoods known for its lush canopy of willow trees and scenic charm, you will find The Glens. A community with traditional architecture and a quaint ambiance nestled between the Guadalupe River and Heritage cedar trees, providing the perfect place to rest your head after a long day.

Please allow WGx to provide a little balance: Those colors! Surely there are a several brightly-colored houses in WG, but six of them packed in together hardly improves upon the historic beauty of the neighborhood. The Glens — can you have two Glens that close together if they aren’t friends? — also claim to be two blocks from River Glen Park. Technically true, but those are some fairly long blocks. It’s a lot closer to a liquor store, and abandoned hardware store, and 56 new condos under construction across Almaden Road.

In other Malone & Almaden news, the large develop-able property at Malone & Harmil is back on the market. Again. And again. Two previous sales agreements have fallen through at the financing stage, so you can still acquire the property and build three more houses on the soon-to-be much busier Malone Road.

We’ve also got a Traffic Advisory: Construction on the 56-condo “Almaden Walk” involves tearing up big chunks of Almaden Road this week, causing major traffic delays for drivers. There have not been any warning signs posted, but you’ll want to avoid the area completely if you can.
