WGx readers already knew that Domus was coming to Lincoln Avenue, right? That’ll happen in August

As a primer on the new WG business, the Mercury News website (via the Los Gatos Weekly-Times subsidiary) printed a great history of the chain last week, in honor of owner Margaret Smith’s being named the “Los Gatos Business Person of the Year” by the Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce.

Smith decided to buy Domus [in 1996] because she liked its international flavor and the large selection of products.

“I wanted a fairly complex business with an opportunity for expansion.”

Expand it she did. Smith opened a second Domus store in Pleasanton, and is set to open a third store in Willow Glen in August.

Smith is already the reigning “small businesswoman of the year,” as honored by the San Jose Business Journal at its Women of Distinction Awards dinner earlier this Spring.

It’s entirely too premature to award any sort of “Willow Glen Most” award, but her track record certainly suggests its a possibility in the future … ;-)
