An early-morning electrical fire that broke out last weekend at the Willows Senior Center has damaged the facility’s cafeteria and auditorium, which are closed indefinitely pending repairs.
There is little visible exterior damage, but the kitchen was gutted and the smell of smoke lingers throughout the interior of the center.
While the City and its insurer workout the details for repairs, several senior programs are looking for new locations. Most notably, the center’s nutrition program regularly serves 80 meals a day, and staff hope to keep distributing meals at Willows. Other organizations that plan to use the auditorium are being encouraged to find alternate arrangements.
