Like everyone else who uses one of the southern portals into Willow Glen, WGx was wondering what happened to the Almaden Expressway exit ramp to westbound Curtner Avenue. Crews tore it up in mid-November, declaring it would would reopen January 28.
Exposed dirt has remained in place since the demolition, with absolutely no visible construction ever taking place. Last week — just after the massive January rains — a lone tractor appeared on the project site. But it hasn’t moved since.
Anyone wondering why the tractor is there? The sun is out, but no work continues … so it obviously wasn’t delivered on a strict timeline.
WGx’s guess: The tractor is PR for the project. The Mercury News’ Mr. Roadshow had provided this update on January 23:
Q: When will they finish the repaving or whatever they are doing at the Almaden Expressway off-ramp to Curtner Avenue? This project began at the end of November.
A: Around the end of February if it remains dry. This work is tied into development in the area and will add a signal so traffic can turn left or right onto Curtner instead of a right-only under the old design. To realign the ramp, they had to do some excavation - best done when it is dry. Rain delayed everything.
The tractor arrived shortly thereafter. What’s it gonna take to get construction started?
Maybe this WillowGlenExtra post will do the trick.

No progress has been made on this wayward construction project, so it will easily stretch into May … if it’s even finished by then.
There’s been no rain, and the weather outlook is great for construction. Come on … get busy! … WGx
