Did you get the phone call?
You know those endless automated phone calls you got back during the run-up to California’s primary election in February. It was like those, but seems to be for a much higher purpose … It came from FindToto.com, and is meant to help reunite a lost dog with her owner:
[Phone Script]: … lost her dog Bella on April 11. Bella is a black and tan Shiba Inu, which looks like miniature husky … small 20-25 pounds, with pointy ears and a curly tail. She is shy and scared, so if you see her please calmly call her and do not chase her.
Bella and her owners were attacked by a pit bull on April 11 in Branham - Thousand Oaks area, and Bella ran away. The dog might have been seen near WG High School over this past weekend, thus the blanketing automatic phone calls to surrounding homes.
A $1000 reward has been offered, and you can call 877-738-8686 with any information.
By the way, if you are the sort who prefers not to be included in such automated phone campaigns, FindToto gives you an opt out option at the end of the recorded message.

Volunteers to help search for lost dog, Bella?
Bella is still missing, despite more & more of us joining in the search on a daily basis. Even though she’s been gone since 4/11, there were a couple of potential sightings recently. Willow Glen High School & surrounding area last weekend. Lincoln & Coe just a few days ago. Possibly closer to her home the other day, but the dog was too far away from the person who reported it so make a positive ID. Her owners are heartbroken & are doing everything they can think of to bring Bella home safely. (FindToto.com that sent out a pre-recorded “Amber Alert” type message, scent/search dog, etc.)
Anyone up for helping? This weekend we need to make more of those large posters you’ve been seeing around (probably Saturday morning). Hang more flyers. Possibly put stickers on flyers, updating possible sightings so people don’t think the search has ended. Drive through some neighborhoods. Search up & down the wooded creek areas (even some of our local homeless are on alert for Bella!). Bike the Los Gatos Creek trail? Any/all suggestions welcome!!
Bella’s mom has approved this posting. If you can help, please e-mail me offlist with your availability & phone number. If you can’t help, please keep Bella in your thoughts & prayers.
THANKS! Laurie on Harmil Way
HI AGAIN…and…i believe they’re trying to get a major search organized sunday at 1:00, meeting at their house & dividing up from there. laurie
HEY ALL…THANK YOU so much for all your e-mails & phone calls & assistance in the search for Bella, the missing dog. I’ve been relaying everything to Terri & Steve (Bella’s owners), who greatly appreciate everything everyone has been doing.
Despite the most recent Bella sightings at Lincoln & Coe/creek that seemed very reliable, search dog(s) were unable to pick up Bella’s scent in that area Saturday. However, a postal worker reported seeing Bella in her yard eating food with her dog!! She lives on a street off Yerba Buena/101 near the creek. It’s entirely possible Bella has been travelling up & down the creek all this time, which makes sense since she doesn’t like busy streets or noisy places. Terri & Steve had the search dog go to the woman’s house Saturday afternoon, Bella’s scent was immediately picked up. From there, the scent tracked crossed Yerba Buena & headed down to the creek. Eventually, the search dog wasn’t able to go through the dense brush. Saturday evening, someone else called Terri & thought he saw Bella not far from this location. SO…there’s still hope!!
We need help, if you still can. Today (Sunday) there will hopefully be a massive search in this area, expecially along the creek. Plus the Coyote-Hellyer Park (there’s a dog park in there, too). There is a search starting at 1 pm, but if you have time earlier or later…that works! You can call Terri’s cell, 408-891-4239 (on the posters/flyers, too) &/or go directly to their house: 3859 Thousand Oaks Drive. Lincoln Avenue to Almaden Expressway to Branham. Left Branham, left Thousand Oaks Drive. Past a park on the right, their house will be on the left (which incidentally backs up near the creek, where the attack happened). Terri & Steve have approved of posting their address as well as this update/request for help. They’ll have maps, etc. ready at their house & coordinate search efforts. Bring doggie snacks, leash & a squeaky toy. If anyone’s available early morning, Steve may need help with getting the large posters up…call Terri’s cell.
If you can’t help, please continue to keep Bella in your thoughts. If you know anyone else that might be able to help, please give them Terri & Steve’s info.
Bella may or may not still be in Willow Glen (someone told me dogs can travel 15 miles a day?), but so many of you have expressed wanting to help. I figured instead of trying to call each of you, or e-mail individually, I’d send this to the elist. No need to e-mail me back…unless you want to.
THANKS again…Laurie on Harmil Way
[...] there is no official word on the status of the recently lost shiba inu Bella, there is help for grieving pet [...]
HEY…if anyone has any time today &/or tomorrow to drive around in your air conditioned car (!!), no matter how short a time frame, please call terri (bella’s mom) 891-4239. there was a confirmed bella sighting this morning, she’s apparently staying in the area she’s been. we’re extra worried because of this heat wave. the person that spotted her said she’s lost a lot of weight, but otherwise seemed OK from what they could see. i’m hoping bella’s smart enough to head back down to the creek for water!! additionally, if you know anyone who lives in the tully/capital/stonegate park area…or any of the other “hot spots” marked on “bella central” please have them kee ptheir eyes peeled. THANKS!!
