Intriguing coincidences in the local hardware store industry …
Willow Glen ACE opened its doors this week, almost simultaneously with the opening of the new Home Depot at The Plant. That’s two new hardware options for Willow Glen residents within 2 miles of each other, and essentially on the same street, too. While Ace’s opening was more relaxed — and perhaps a bit ahead of schedule — the Home Depot hits town with a splashy two-page ad in today’s local section of the Mercury News, complete with special pricing good at this store only.
Invites a bit of comparison shopping doesn’t it …. Anyone need anything?

I needed some screw in hooks and a screw holder thingy on Saturday. I stopped in to the Ace and Richard, the guy who runs the place, was awesome. There is no way that I’d go to the Home Depot for a quick stop like that. They had everything I need and Richard personally took me to each item I was looking for. Then he signed up on WG 2.0 while I was standing at the cash register. You can add him as a friend here to keep up with news from the new Ace: http://willowglen.ning.com/profile/RichardAceHassett
Welcome to the neighborhood, Richard!
