Since the new San Jose Earthquakes aren’t playing at nearby Spartan Stadium anymore, Willow Glen residents attending home games at Buck Shaw Stadium might want to plan ahead.

Buck Shaw Stadium is located west of El Camino Real, on the campus of Santa Clara University. Traveling from WG, spectators have three primary choices:

  • Drive to Paid Parking: The easiest route to El Camino from WG might be to drive up Bird Avenue, turning left on Santa Clara Street (which The Alameda, which then curves right onto El Camino Real). Parking is $10 per vehicle.
  • Drive to Free Parking (then shuttle): Take Highway 87 north to the Taylor Street exit. Turn west (left), and then turn right on Coleman Avenue. Most Free Parking is located on the old FMC property west of Coleman. The Earthquakes are providing free shuttles from these lots.
  • CalTrain to Santa Clara: Assuming the lots are not being used by events at San Jose Arena, catch a train leaving from the Diridon Station (weekends on the hour). After a five-minute trip, exit at the Santa Clara station. Adult One-Way Fare: $2.25 (Youth $1).
  • Note: On Weekends, the Tamien CalTrain station provide bus-only service. The parking is free, but the shuttle to Diridon will add a few minutes to your trip.

Of course, there may be better routes and better methods, and WGx may even be slightly mistaken on this custom-made map. Enjoy the game! … and Go Quakes!
